Curation is the act of organizing and maintaining a collection. As a society, we have long curated content - starting in 1851 with newspapers and evolving to social platforms, such as Facebook and Pinterest.
In the world of data, curation enables individuals to share & discover their own data, driving self-service analytics. But the goal of self-service analytics - to give employees a one-stop shop for data knowledge - also requires organizational control over data quality. Increasing volumes of accessible data are driving organizations to shift to data curation as a way to manage data value, share data knowledge, and control data quality.

With over 15 years of data infrastructure and application experience, Stephanie McReynolds has a track record of bringing new technologies to market and into the hands of business analysts. Stephanie is currently the Vice President of Marketing at Alation.
Prior to Alation, Stephanie was instrumental in building the first marketing team at the self-service data preparation provider Trifacta. She previously held senior product management positions at a number of data companies including Teradata, Aster Data, and Oracle. Stephanie earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Stanford University.
